- Retained Search
Particularly for executive level searches, usually we work with our hiring authorities on a retained basis. This is the best way for our hiring authorities to ensure that they get a first look at all appropriately matching candidates. The terms and process will vary slightly based on the particular situation, but this approach ensures delivery in the most confidential manner possible through the exclusivity given to our firm on the particular search. Many firms abuse their retained search relationships as these situations can breed complacency, marginalized search results and slow or prolonged delivery. We not only set hard-stop benchmarks aligned with the hiring authority’s sense of urgency, but we also reciprocate the value a retained search offers us with flexible payment terms for the hiring organization upon: 1. initiation of the search, 2. sourcing, screening and scheduling of candidates, 3. Offer, acceptance and on-boarding of the selected candidate.
- Engaged Search
One of our most prevalent ways we work with our hiring authorities, an engaged search offers our firm an exclusive opportunity to be the sole firm tasked with a search assignment. This does not involve any part of the placement fee up front, but it is a mutually beneficial approach in that your trust in us is rewarded by a devoted, timely search, one that also creates a very high level of confidentiality and receptiveness within our talent pool. This is a highly effective approach for the most senior or junior of roles, really benefitting the hiring authority by ensuring they get a first look at all appropriately matching candidates given the nature of our exclusive engagement of services. Placement fee is due upon start date of the candidate.

- Contingency Search
For searches at a mid-level, particularly with newer relationships with organizations we have just started working for, contingency search can be a productive option. Contingency search engages our services in manner where we are not retained or exclusive in working with the hiring company, but still deliver the same level of quality. The drawback of a contingency search is that is does not give them a level of exclusivity and assurance of delivery, but it does allow our search consultants to market candidates more openly to multiple suitors as opposed to just one exclusive hiring organization.
- In-Sourcing
Particularly with junior to mid-level searches, many of the hiring authorities we represent have been either forced or strongly encouraged to seek more of a job-board type approach given some of our competitors’ approach to these searches. Obviously, this is basically any online posting and absence of a true sourcing-screening-selecting process creates a pile of paper and a ton of work for the hiring authority, basically putting them in a position to have to do their own recruiting. This is the most critical time for the new hire and hiring manager to invest in each other, ensuring a smooth transition into the relationship for both sides.
